Appeal: Assault, Beech Avenue, Golcar, Huddersfield

Thursday March 7, 2013

Police are appealing to trace two witnesses who saw an assault in Huddersfield.

The Valleys Neighbourhood Policing Team would like to speak to two teenagers who witnessed the incident which took place at about 3pm on Sunday March 3 on Beech Avenue in Golcar.

It occurred after the victim, a 48-year-old woman who was walking her dog, was assaulted by another female dog walker following an incident involving their animals.

The woman was left with superficial injuries which required hospital treatment following the assault, which was stopped by the intervention of the two teenagers who saw what was happening and came over to assist.

Both of the teenagers were described as white and 17-20-years-old. One was wearing a baseball cap and had a goatee beard.

The suspect was described as female, of afro-caribbean ethnicity, 50-55-years-old, 5ft 4ins tall and of medium to stocky build.

She had a short black afro hair style and was wearing a dark coloured waist length jacket and a long grey skirt. The suspect also had a Jamaican like accent.

PC Natalie Bailey of the Valleys NPT, who is investigating the assault, said: "This was a nasty incident and we would very much like to trace the two teenagers who saw what happened and intervened as we need to speak to them as witnesses.

"I would ask them to come forwards and would also appeal to anyone who knows the identity of the victim’s attacker to contact us at the Valleys NPT on 101 or CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
