Appeal: Burglary- National Tyres, Wortley

Thursday 6 September 2012

CCTV: Suspect van

Police are appealing for information after a large quantity of tyres was stolen from a National Tyres outlet on Gelderd Road, Wortley.

The break-in occurred during the early hours of Saturday 1 September where the suspects are thought to have entered the building, which is among a series of industrial units close to the roundabout with Whitehall Road and Domestic Road, not far from central Leeds.

More than 100 tyres were taken and police are asking local tyre outlets to be vigilant and report anyone attempting to sell on stolen tyres. Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who is offered branded tyres including Baruum and Westlake, which are only made available to large retail outlets.

A white transit van was captured on CCTV in the area at the time of the burglary and police believe it may have been involved in the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Holbeck CID via: 101 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously and in confidence, on: 0800 555 111.
