Appeal For Information on Wanted Man, Brian Waite.
Monday 24 September, 2012.
Detectives in West Yorkshire are renewing an appeal to trace a convicted criminal who's believed to be on the run and living in Spain and the Netherlands.
Brian James Waite who was born on 26 March 1970 in Leeds, escaped from prison in 2006 where he was serving an 11-year sentence for robbery, arson and handling stolen goods.
Waite is described as white, 5 feet 9 inches tall of a medium build, with fair hair and brown eyes.
Detectives have been actively trying to locate Waite since his disappearance from HMP North Sea Camp prison on 30th November 2006 and have reasons to believe that he is committing further crimes whilst on the run.
Police have released a new photo of Waite which has been obtained from a passport he is known to have used whilst travelling between Spain, the Netherlands and the UK.
Detectives are also aware that Waite is currently receiving medical treatment, possibly in the UK and are appealing to the medical profession for help in locating him.
Waite has been known to use the alias of Michael Birch and Anthony Waite.
Detective Inspector Neil Hollis of West Yorkshire Police's Crime Division said: "Waite has been on the run for almost six years now and we are making every effort to locate him.
"We have reasons to believe he is committing further crimes and is using other people's identities to travel between countries.
"We also believe he is receiving medical treatment within the UK and would like to appeal to the medical profession to help us in the search for this man."
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Brian Waite is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
