Police are appealing for help to trace a man reported missing from his home in Gateshead.

Edward Burt, 27, was last seen at his address in Old Durham Road on July 31, and last had contact with his family on August 3.

He is originally from the Darlington area but has been living in this area while attending college.

As well as the north east, Edward also has connections in Edinburgh, London and Leeds and in the past has worked in the maritime industry and is known as an experienced traveller.

He is described as white, about 6ft 2ins tall of slim build, with brown hair and a fair complexion. It's not known what he was last wearing but generally wears cargo-style pants.

Police have carried out a number of enquiries to trace Edward since he was reported missing on Saturday, August 11, and are appealing for help from the public to trace him.

Although he is known to travel, it's out of character for him to have not been in touch with his family for this length of time and police are keen to speak with him to ensure his safety.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police on 101 ext 64044 or ext 69191, for the attention of Gateshead CID.
