Appeal: Robbery, Sycamore Close, Bradford
Thursday 14 February 2013
Police are appealing for information following a robbery which occurred last night (13/02) at an address on Sycamore Close in Bradford.
At around 3:20pm, a 60 year old woman entered her home after getting off the 635 bus on Otley Road.
On closing the door behind her, she received a knock at the door.
She answered to a man claiming of a burst pipe in a neighbouring property.
He then pushed his way into the house, knocking the victim to the floor.
A second man is then believed to have made his way into the house before making a search.
Whilst she was on the floor, one of the men removed the rings from her fingers and both made away.
One of the men is described as white, between 25 and 30 years old, around 5’10" tall, of thin build, clean shaven and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a short black jacket and a black hat with ear flaps.
Detective Inspector Ben McDonald of Bradford South CID is investigating the incident and said:
"Although the victim was uninjured, she was understandably extremely shook up by the whole incident.
"It is disgraceful that this woman has been targeted in this way and we are determined to catch those responsible.
"These were sentimental items and these men will no doubt have realised this whilst prizing them from her fingers
"At this stage, it is not fully clear whether any other items were taken from the house.
"We do know that two men were seen to get into a red Peugeot car nearby before driving away and I would like to hear from anyone who saw this and where the vehicle went.
"I am particularly interested in speaking to a member of the community who approached a PCSO at the time of the incident, but did not give their details.
"It is possible these men were waiting for the victim and I would like to hear from anyone who saw two men outside the address prior to the offence taking place.
"Likewise, if you have information about the whereabouts of the rings or those who stole them, we need to know immediately.
"We are currently undertaking forensic investigation from the property and making CCTV enquiries.
"If you can assist in our investigations, please call the non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111."
