Appeal: Sexual Assault, Gardens Terrace, Ravensthorpe

Police are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted in Ravensthorpe last weekend.

At around 1.10am on Saturday, 23 August, the victim, a 45-year-old woman, was at the junction of Gardens Terrace and Spen Valley Road when a man has approached her. He has made lewd comments towards her and touched her inappropriately before running from the scene along Gardens Terrace.

The man is described as Asian, between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 7ins tall, of slim to medium build, with dark hair. He was wearing dark clothing and was carrying a white plastic bag.

DC David Lock, of Kirklees CID, said: "We would urge anyone who saw a man matching the suspect's description in this area around the time of the offence to make contact. Information can be passed either to police directly by calling Kirklees CID on 101 or to independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
