Appeal To Trace Driver After Child Knocked Down, Huddersfield.
Police are appealing to trace a driver following a road traffic collision in Huddersfield in which an 11-year-old boy was injured.
Shortly before 5.25pm today (28/1), the boy was crossing Leeds Road on a pedestrian crossing near to the junction with Barr Street when he was involved in a collision with a car, that was described as a dark-coloured family-sized hatchback, of similar size to a Ford Focus.
The child, who received minor injuries, picked himself up and ran to his home nearby. He was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment.
The driver stopped briefly at the scene before driving away.
PC James Sandford, of Western Area Roads Policing, said: "With the boy having left the scene, it's possible the driver could be unaware that he was in collision with a child. We urgently need to trace him so we can speak to him about the circumstances of the incident.
"We are checking CCTV in the area and carrying out enquiries to trace the vehicle but would urge the driver to contact us. We would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the vehicle involved."
Anyone with any information that could assist is asked to contact PC 2742 Sandford via 101 quoting log number 1203 of January 28.
