Appeal For Witnesses Following Armed Robbery, Holmfirth

Tuesday, 5 August 2014

Police in Huddersfield are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery which occurred yesterday afternoon (04/08) at a store on Towngate, Netherthong near Holmfirth.

A man entered the premises at around 4:10pm with a long barrelled shotgun and demanded that cash from the till, and cigarettes, be placed into a white drawstring JD Sports bag.

He was white, around 16 to 19 years old, around 5' 4" tall, of slim build with fair blonde hair, and was wearing a black and white face covering and a black jacket with white writing across it.

Acting Detective Sergeant Pete Usher of Kirklees CID said: "This was clearly a terrifying experience for the female shop assistant. Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident, however the fact that the man was carrying a firearm underlines the level of threat.

"We have already made three arrests in connection with this, but we are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact Kirklees CID on the non emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111."
