Appeal For Witnesses: Serious Road Traffic Collision, Doncaster Road, Wakefield

Police are appealing for information following a road traffic collision in Wakefield today.

At just after 2.10pm a blue VW Golf was involved in a collision with a single Decker bus on the Doncaster Road near Crofton.

Fifteen people were injured, including two men who have life threatening injuries and four other people with serious injuries. They have been taken to hospitals in West Yorkshire.

The A638 Doncaster Road is closed in both directions - to outbound traffic from its junction with the A655 near to Heath Common - and inbound traffic from its junction with Lodge Lane. It is expected to remain closed for a number of hours.

Diversions are in place and motorists have experienced disruption as a result of the incident. We would continue to ask drivers to avoid the area if possible while the scene is cleared.
