Appeal for Witnesses, Van Theft, Moorside Drive, Drighlington

Monday 13 August, 2012

Police are appealing for witnesses after a white coloured Mercedes Sprinter van was stolen from Moorside Drive, Drighlington.
The incident happened at 1.20pm on Friday 9 August when engineers were working in the area.
Two men approached the vehicle - a long wheelbased van with orange lights on the roof and a large silver trailer containing building materials attached to the back - and then stole it.
As they were doing so the owner attempted to prevent the theft by entering the side sliding passenger door. He managed to hold onto the door as the van was being driven away at speed towards Walton Drive, Drighlington.
The owner then lost his grip and fell into the road. He was injured during the incident and needed hospital treatment for broken ribs.
Two men officers want to speak to in connection with the incident are described as white, aged in their mid to late 20s and of slim to medium build. One of them had brown hair and the other blonde hair.
One of them was wearing a blue striped top and the other had a dark blue t-shirt on.
Any witnesses to the incident or anyone with information about it is asked to contact DC Lee Thimm at City and Holbeck CID on 0113 2414781 or via 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
