Arrests made following Football Disorder
Detectives have arrested twenty six people following a large scale disorder in Huddersfield. This follows the release of CCTV images of men Police wanted to speak to last week. Further images have now been released.
Detectives from Huddersfield CID and British Transport Police are working together to investigate the disorder which happened on Saturday, 19th May, 2012 - the afternoon of the Championship Play-Off final. It's believed fans of Huddersfield Town, Bradford City and Leeds United were involved in the disorder.
The main incident took place on Westgate and Market Street in
Huddersfield, before continuing in the railway station and spilling on to the tracks. Several men chased each other through the platforms and eventually down the track towards Deighton causing sixty one trains to be delayed and seven to be cancelled altogether. In all, the disruption caused 893 minutes worth of delays and cost thousands in lost earnings, a loss that is footed by the tax payer.
The twenty six males arrested range in age from 15 to 47 and come from Huddersfield, Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield and Selby.
Acting Detective Sergeant Nick Doyle of Huddersfield CID said: "Detectives from Huddersfield CID and the British Transport Police have identified and arrested several people believed to be involved in the football related violence and have warned that further arrests will take place. Huddersfield CID want to send out a clear message to so called fans who want to cause trouble at any future encounters that we will not tolerate it."
Anyone who recognises any of the people shown in the CCTV images is asked to contact Acting Sergeant Nick Doyle on 101 quoting the reference number of the image.

Acting Detective Sergeant Nick Doyle of Huddersfield CID said: "These mindless individuals caused ordinary
members of the public to fear for their safety. Several scared shop owners locked themselves inside and one young man had to lock himself in the car whilst his Grandma shopped nearby.
Behaviour of this kind will not be tolerated and we will bring those involved before the courts. I urge anyone who has any information to the identity of the men pictured to contact us."
