Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) can happen online, it is called online grooming. It is vital you know the signs that indicate a child may be exploited online.  
CSE is Child Sexual Exploitation. In very basic terms, it involves a victim being targeted and groomed by adults, with the intention of sexually assaulting and/or raping them.
Are you worried about a friend? Has their behaviour changed recently, but you don’t really know why? It’s probably nothing to worry about, but if they are displaying the following characteristics it could be a sign that they are a victim of child sexual exploitation.

A person who is trafficked for the purpose of sexual exploitation may be controlled by violence, threats, substance abuse, deception or grooming; this can happen to any gender, race and age and can take place in brothels, hotels, residential housing or on our streets forced to prostitute.
"Any child could be exploited by criminals" (child criminal exploitation campaign). Organised crime groups could see a young person as someone who can be easily manipulated or intimidated into doing what they want and this can lead to child criminal exploitation.
