Friday, November 16, 2012
Temporary Chief Constable John Parkinson has welcomed today's appointment of Mark Burns-Williamson as West Yorkshire’s first Police and Crime Commissioner.
He will officially take up the post on Thursday 22nd November.
TCC Parkinson said: “I welcome and look forward to working with our first PCC. He will enable a closer connection to the public and that must be a good thing.
“Our first PCC arrives at a time when the Force is performing well. Crime is down and public confidence is at its highest ever level. I’m sure we both want the same thing – to provide the best policing service for the public of West Yorkshire.
“I am confident the officers and staff of West Yorkshire Police have the skills and structure to continue to deliver a service we are all proud of.
Our commitment to the public remains our number one priority. That commitment is to cut crime, catch criminals, keep people safe and focus on victims.”
