By Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Ian Kennedy

Welcome to the home page of Airedale and North Bradford division.

I am very pleased to have taken over as Divisional Commander at Airedale and North Bradford Division. I plan for my staff to keep improving Police standards in the division, to keep crime falling and to help officers deliver standards of Policing residents can be proud of.

I have only been in post a short time but already I have begun to get out and about in communities to see them for myself, and I am keen to drive the Force forwards in the District.

The important thing for me is to find out more about the area and the communities that we police. I look forward to meeting partners to ensure we work together and that my staff are delivering a quality of service and standard of investigation that we can all be proud of. Crime has been falling in Airedale and North Bradford and that good work is something we now need to build on.

Very positive initiatives I am keen to build on from the last 12 months include work to tackle serious violent crime in Keighley and the expansion of the Automatic Number Plate Recognition system last winter. The £300,000 scheme saw the scheme expand across Bradford District and was launched with a major operation to tackle road related crime and saw Police seize over 100 uninsured cars and arrest 26 people.

I have been very pleased to hear of the success which have taken place over the last 12 months such as this roll out of the expanded ANPR camera network to cover Bradford District. Systems such as this can have a significant impact in improving safety whilst making life difficult for offenders. They are excellent tools for Police officers.

I intend to carry on work to further embed Neighbourhood Police Teams into communities to ensure we are delivering a truly local police service for our residents and implementing the Policing Pledge. A lot of good work has been carried out to deliver improvements on our streets and this is something I intend to build on with my officers over the coming months to make sure all our communities are receiving the local service they expect and deserve.
