Welcome to the Calder (Hebden Bridge) Neighbourhood page
Calder (Hebden Bridge) - Part of the Upper Valley NPT, in the Calderdale Division and part of the Hebden Bridge ward. This Neighbourhood also covers Hebden Bridge, Hebble End, Heptonstall, Dodd Naze, Mytholm, Machpelah.
Hebden Bridge: To reduce vehicles causing obstruction by inconsiderate parking at following locations – Eiffel Street, Chapel Avenue, Birchcliffe, Edward Street, Victoria Road, and Foster Lane.
Old Town: To reduce anti social behaviour by youths in the Westfield area of Old Town.
Please see below the new PACT Meeting dates for the Hebden Bridge area. Please come along and meet your local Officers where you can jointly agree what should be the local priorities for your area. Any other issues can also be discussed.
NPT Officers have been working in partnership with Yorkshire Water in deterring illegal off-road vehicles off the moors above Hebden Bridge on the Saville Estate and other areas in the Upper Valley. This being a top concern identified by local residents in the area.
Officers from the Upper Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team are stepping up patrols in the area and signs warning off-roaders and other offenders of anti social behaviour to stay away have been put up. Officers will seize illegal vehicles and it is likely some will end up crushed - a real waste of money for those who have bought one.
Sgt Bowden said: “The community have asked us to take action – and that’s exactly what we are doing.”
“It’s a lovely spot and we don’t want to see the bikes ruining it. We will not tolerate off road motorcycles being ridden up there.”
News in Brief – 9 Jul 10
On 1 July, a 49 year old local man was arrested and charged with assault after Police were called to an incident in the Dodnaze area.
In the early hours of 3 July, Officers sighted a vehicle driving along Halifax Road, Hebden Bridge, weaving about and on one occasion hitting the kerb. The vehicle was stopped and the driver smelt strongly of alcohol. A roadside breath test was conducted which clearly showed the driver was over the prescribed limit. The driver (a 19 year old man from Sowerby Bridge) was arrested and charged with drink driving and also aggravated vehicle taking.
Anti Social Behaviour – 24 Jun 10
We have recently received reports of nuisance youths gathering in the Foster Lane area of Hebden Bridge drinking and taking part in anti social behaviour. We are making regular patrols of the area, however, if this problem continues, please give us a ring on the above number in order to provide us with identities of those involved.
Arrest for D&D led to Cannabis Find! – 16 Jun 10
A man originally arrested for being drunk and disorderly was later found to be growing Cannabis in the loft of his house by NPT Officers.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, Officers attended a report received that a large group of young adults were being very loud and causing a public disturbance near Valley Road, Hebden Bridge. The group which consisted of intoxicated young adults were spoken to and advised accordingly by NPT Officers. Unfortunately, the group did not respond to reasonable requests and due to the disturbance escalating, two men were arrested. One of these men was found to be in possession of a controlled drug and a subsequent search of his home address, our Officers discovered a Cannabis farm in his loft. Both men have now been bailed pending further enquiries.
