A shirt donated by Leeds Rhinos star Jamie Jones-Buchanan has helped to give a boost to a Bramley elderly group’s fundraising efforts to replace its stolen minibus.
The shirt, which is signed by his Rhinos team-mates, was raffled off at the West Inner and West Outer neighbourhood policing teams’ open day event at Pudsey police station. The raffle raised more than £100.
The neighbourhood policing teams decided to donate the cash to Bramley Elderly Action, which is raising funds to replace its 12-seater minibus which was stolen from the group’s base in Stanningley Road in September.
Members of the group attended Pudsey police station to be presented with the cheque and to see Jamie hand over the shirt to raffle winner Steven Wood, from Bramley.
Inspector Mark Bownass, who head the West Inner team, said: “Bramley Elderly Action does a lot of very valuable work helping elderly people in the community and the minibus provided a vital lifeline service for many. We are in regular contact with the group as part of our work to build relationships with the wider community and we thought they were a very deserving a cause.”
