Officers were contacted by the ambulance service shortly after 2.30pm today following a road traffic collision in Morrisons Supermarket car park, Queensway, Morley.
A grey Toyota 4x4 was being driven in the car park when it collided with the air pump near to the petrol station.
A 44 year old woman, who was driving the car was taken to the Leeds General Infirmary, where she later died.
A female passenger in the car was uninjured.
