Force Call Bureau Handlers

- £16,512 - £17,637 (plus 20% shift & weekend enhancements)
Working in the Force Call Bureau in Wakefield you will provide an interface between the Police Force and the general public in support of the Force’s, Division’s and customers’ needs.
You will receive record and resolve enquiries received directly from the public via the telephone. This will include providing advice, undertaking further investigation where applicable, and the finalisation of such calls.
It is essential to have a basic knowledge of and an ability to operate computer databases, a good command of English to communicate clearly in writing and verbally. Basic knowledge of the geography of the Force Area and experience of working in a similar, front line public enquiry environment would be desirable.
These posts are suitable for job share. (You must be available for up to 12 weeks at full time for the training programme)
You will be required to attend an assessment centre as part of the recruitment process which will be held on 9 / 10 February 2010. The successful applicants must be able to attend a full time compulsory training programme which begins on 22 April 2010 to 8 June 2010. Temporary Research Officer (6 Months)

A temporary vacancy has arisen for a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive (FILEX) to join our in-house legal team in Wakefield where you will conduct and advise on all civil matters and give specialist advice on all areas of the law concerning the Chief Constable.

Working within Hi Tech Crime Unit, Wakefield you will provide, through efficient interrogation of electronic based equipment, obtaining evidence in accordance with Force and National Policy to effectively support operational policing activity.

A temporary position has arisen, within the Claims Handling Section for the conducting and advising on road traffic collision claims ensuring all claims are dealt with in an effective and efficient manner. The role will involve negotiating motor claims and agreeing settlements within approved and agreed limits for the force.
It is essential to have experience of evaluating, negotiating and settling road traffic collision claims; the ability to assimilate a large volume of complex information with attention to detail; with knowledge of and the ability to operate computerised packages including Microsoft Office and case management systems. Experience of dealing with litigated and personal injury claims, basic knowledge of law proceedings and the law of negligence would be desirable.
