The Police National Legal Database (PNLD) is at the heart of today’s policing environment, providing an immediate service to over 200,000 users throughout England and Wales. Demand for instant advice and access to accurate and up-to-date legal and procedural information continues to grow, as do the number of organisations seeking to use our services.
Based in Wakefield, you will primarily be responsible for researching criminal law, together with judicial and policing procedures to ensure that relevant changes are implemented before they come into force. You will from time to time be expected to assist in advising our customers in their area of work.
You will be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing whilst demonstrating a combination of practical experience of law enforcement and a clear understanding of the legislative process. With a degree in law or be nearing completion of degree in law and 5 years’ experience in the field of criminal law, you will have a detailed ability to use various research methods and be computer literate.

Hate Incident Co-ordinator

Working within Vulnerable Victims Unit based at Trafalgar House you will monitor and facilitate the reduction of repeat victimisation and to increase the number of hate incidents reported to the Police. Ensuring computer systems are accurately updated and maintained within the Force Policy you will gather information such as race, colour, homophobic and elderly abuse occurring within the division in order to ensure an effective response is provided.
A working knowledge and ability to operate computerised database, good communication skills both written and verbal, to liaise effectively with Police Officers, Staff and victims along with external partnerships and outside agencies are essential. An understanding of the McPherson Report and the responsibility of the Police Service is required.

Senior Clerical Officer (Health & Safety) (18.5 hours job share)

Working within Wakefield District Division you will co-ordinate health and safety administrative systems and procedures, along with supervising, monitoring, training and developing staff to provide and efficient and effective support in compliance with Legislation and Force Policy.
It is essential to have previous clerical and administrative experience with basic knowledge of Health and Safety Systems and procedures. Supervisory experience and a NEBOSH qualification would be desirable.
Hours: Alternate Wednesday; full days Thursday and Friday.

Counter Terrorism Trainer

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in a unique team, supporting the work of the North East Counter Terrorism Unit (NE CTU). Based in Leeds, you will create, design and deliver local, regional and national counter terrorism training and exercises to CTU colleagues throughout the North East Region and develop organisational learning opportunities.
It is essential that you have knowledge of counter terrorist investigative/intelligence/operational practice and best practice in this field gained through experience or research. You should have experience in the design and delivery of training and exercises, good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deliver training on complex and sensitive issues at senior management level within the Police and other external partner agencies. The ability to complete advanced Police accredited training and other nationally accredited training qualifications and an understanding of the relevance of diversity issues to this role are also essential.
The ability to work flexible hours with minimal supervision and to travel for business purposes nationally are also essential. You will undergo advanced vetting procedures, must be a British citizen and for security reasons, should not discuss your application with anyone other than your immediate family.
A relocation package is available, subject to eligibility.

Intelligence Clerk

Joining the Intelligence Unit at Wood Street Police Station, Wakefield your role will be to provide and maintain local intelligence information on various information systems ensuring that the Division is provided with a current and accurate intelligence system. You will also have responsibility of maintaining the Divisional Intelligence website on the Intranet.
It is essential you have a basic knowledge of and ability to operate computerised database and spreadsheet packages, relevant office experience, the ability to type at 35 words per minute, and a flexible approach to working hours to suit the requirements of the Department.
