Laura Jackson is the Safer Student Officer at the University Of Huddersfield and her role is to keep you safe by offering crime prevention advice and safety tips. She wants you to enjoy your experience as a student within Huddersfield but also be mindful about safety for yourself and others.
Laura has a wealth of experience and has worked for the West Yorkshire Police Force for 12 years in a wide range of areas including front line police work. For the last five years she has worked in the Kirklees area, which includes Huddersfield.
Her role at the University provides Laura with the opportunity to work with our students and staff, in a positive and helpful way to help you to keep safe.
“I’m here to help students. Sometimes when people see a police officer they assume that something is wrong, but I’m here to prevent problems and provide a friendly face if anyone has any questions, concerns or needs advice. I am here to ensure that the University continues to be kept a safe place by offering safety and crime prevention advice,”
Laura also wants to encourage us all to look out for each other.
“I want to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable time here in Huddersfield and that they create many happy memories they can look back on in years to come,”
If you would like Laura to attend one of your groups, societies or meetings please get in touch.
