West Yorkshire Police acknowledge that a stolen pet can be a very distressing matter for the owner. In some cases, the pet is recovered at a later date and the police are not informed therefore records are not updated.
West Yorkshire Police regularly publish ‘dog theft’ safety/crime prevention messages via Community
Alert, Neighbourhood Watch and Social Media pages via our district Crime Prevention Officers. We would always recommend going dog walking in groups or with friends (covid safe) and report any suspicious behaviour via 101 or the online 101 form; https://www.police.uk/101/.
