Phone/device Tracking

Many different apps/software is available so that if your phone or device is lost/stolen you can successfully track where it is and hopefully recover the item. The i-phone has "find my phone", and for android phones there is "android device manager".
 

Crime Prevention Tips

  • When possible keep your phone out of sight in public areas.
  • Try to ensure a password or pin code lock is enabled on your phone.
  • When you leave a table/area, even for a short time, always take your phone with you. Never leave it unattended.
  • If a stranger asks to make an emergency call from your phone, always call on their behalf. Don't hand your phone over to them to use.
  • Always stay alert when using your mobile phone and be aware of your surroundings.
  • If you are unlucky enough to lose or have your phone stolen, call your network provider and get the phone blocked as soon as possible.
  • If you are answering a call on the street walk with the phone nearest to a building or on the inside of the path, many offences occur with offenders riding up to and snatching a phone.


IMEI numbers (International Mobile Equipment Number

If your phone is lost/stolen your provide, and the Police when you report it to them, will need to know this number.

Its the identification number for your phone and can be found by dialling *#06# from the phone and the IMEI number will be displayed on the phone.

Make a note of this number and store it safely in the event you need it to report a lost/stolen phone.

If you do report a lost/stolen phone/device to the Police, always use the 101 number. 999 is only used for emergencies.
