Tuesday 16 May 2023 A Wakefield man has been jailed for a total of 16 years after being found guilty of rape in a trial at Leeds Crown Court.  Steven Wood, 43 of Linton Road, Wakefield was sentenced yesterday (15/5) following the conviction of two offences of rape both receiving eight years, to run concurrently. 
Monday, 6 November, 2023 Police in Wakefield are investigating following a burglary at a Sainsbury’s store on Alverthorpe Road this morning.  A report was received shortly after 1.30am this morning that a JCB forklift had collided into the store.
