About Direct Entry Detective Constables

This route is for people who want to be a Detective Constable through the Initial Police Learning & Development Programme Plus (IPLDP+)

Salary : £28,551 per annum increasing to a minimum of £30,957 after three years and £46,044 after seven years if you remain at the Police Constable rank, (subject to performance).

  • Are you inquisitive?

  • Do you have an analytical mind and enjoy solving problems?

If this sounds like you and you are ready for a new challenge then we may have the perfect career for you.

We have a limited opportunity for a restricted number of candidates to apply to our newly developed Direct Entry Detective Constable scheme.

This recruitment window will only be open for a short period of time and is unlikely to be repeated, so if you think you have what it takes to be a Detective in one of the best performing forces in England and Wales then we want to hear from you.

This entry route will focus solely on progressing through the Detective career pathway. Once you have completed your initial 18 weeks training you will join a Safeguarding Team in one of the Force’s five policing districts, where you will be responsible for protecting some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.

You will not be posted to any other operational functions such as response, patrol or neighbourhood policing, so if these roles appeal to you, you may want to consider the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship Scheme (PCDA) or the Police Constable Initial Police Learning & Development Programme Uniform (IPLDP) entry routes instead.

Once an application has been submitted, you will not be able to transfer to another PC entry route.
