Appeal: Road Traffic Collision, Birkby Lodge Road

Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace the driver of Vauxhall Astra who failed to stop at the scene of road traffic collision on Birkby Lodge Road, Birkby.

The incident happened at 3:50pm on 13 March close to the junction with Una Place.

A black Astra with the vehicle registration YS05 CDK and a blue Mazda 3 were in collision.

The driver of the Astra, which was stolen, did not stop at the scene. The same vehicle had been in collision with a blue BMW 2 series on Grimescar Avenue, Birkby a few minutes before the second collision.

The Astra was abandoned on a patch of grass on Birkby Lodge Road just up from the junction of George Avenue and the driver then made off.

The driver is described as of dark mixed race, approximately 6ft tall and approximately 30 years old.

He is described as medium build and with dark brown eyes, big lips and very short tightly curled black hair which was possibly slightly longer on top.

No one was seriously injured during either collision.

Anyone who can identify the driver of the Astra or who saw him make off from the scene is asked to call police on 101 quoting log 1085 of 13 March.
