Appeal: Serious Sexual Offence, Woodhouse Lane, Leeds

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to a serious sexual offence in the centre of Leeds.

Leeds District CID are investigating and appealing for information regarding the incident which took place at about 1.50am this morning (30 November) in an alleyway off Woodhouse Lane close to the junction of St Marks Avenue.

It occurred after the adult female victim was approached by a man and subjected to a serious sexual offence.

The male made off after being disturbed by a passer-by who went to assist the victim.

The suspect is described as white, in his late 20s, thin and as having short dark hair.  He was wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap.

Officers believe that after being disturbed he ran down Woodhouse Lane in the direction of the city centre

Detective Inspector James Entwistle of Leeds District CID, said:  “We are conducting a number of enquiries into this serious incident and are supporting the victim who has been left very distressed.

“I am appealing for information and witnesses and would like to speak to anyone who saw what took place, or who saw the suspect running away from the scene.

“There were also a number of vehicles driving past at the time and it is possible someone may have seen the suspect or captured footage on a dashcam which could assist the investigation.
