Community Leaders In Bradford Come Together at Global Peace Event

Community leaders across Bradford have come together to mark International Day of Peace. 

The Global Peace event took place on 21st September at Tong Park Hotel in Bradford and was organised by Georgi Majid who is the President of the Global Peace Journey. 

The day is devoted to commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples. 

The speakers on the night included the Chief Constable John Robins QPM DL, Superintendent Padwell, the Lord Major of Bradford and faith leaders from Sikh, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and Christian religions. 

Georgi Majid is the President of the Global Peace Journey in Bradford he said:

“It was amazing to see so many representatives from different faiths present at the event who wanted to support and share our message of promoting peace.   

“I wanted to recognise the work that West Yorkshire Police do to support our communities, in particular the work of the Independent Advisory Group and it is a privilege to work alongside PC James Elliott , the Faith Engagement Officer for West Yorkshire Police.  

Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police John Robins QPM DL spoke at the event he said:

“It was incredible to see how a wide range of faith leaders in Bradford work so closely together, demonstrating unity and support for each other. At a time where there are tensions in other parts of the country, this kind of community partnership is so valuable. 

“Police in Bradford and West Yorkshire will continue to engage with our local communities, working together to promote peace and cohesion.”
