Family of Oliver Pryde Issue New Tribute As Investigations Continue Into Fatal Kirkburton Collision

The family of a student who tragically died in a collision in Kirklees have issued a detailed tribute to him.
The Major Collision Enquiry Team (MCET) is continuing to appeal for witnesses to a fatal collision on Penistone Road, Kirkburton on Monday July 12 which resulted in the death of Oliver Pryde (18) who is from Cumbria.
Oliver lost his life after he was in collision with a car on Penistone Road, Kirkburton, at 12:20am on Monday 12 July.
The 18-year-old was studying at Huddersfield University, and was crossing the road when the collision occurred.
In a tribute his family said:
“Oliver was the eldest of 4 children, he leaves behind two brothers, Reece aged 12, Finlay, 11, and his little sister Libby aged 8.
“We have all been left devastated by his tragic and untimely death, just 5 days before he was due to come home for the summer and 18 days before his 19th birthday.
“He went out to support his country in the Euros and he never made it home.
“Our lives will never be the same again.
“We will miss him ranting about football and his beloved Manchester United and his corny jokes that he found hilarious!
“Oliver went off to University to study maths; he hoped to become a maths teacher and teach secondary aged pupils.
“He really found himself at university and loved the life he had made with his new friends and flatmates, he spoke of them as if they were family.
“We were so proud of him for living his dream.
“Oliver's funeral will be held on Thursday 5th August at 11am in the sports hall of his previous secondary school, Netherhall school in Maryport, followed by burial in Flimby cemetery and then a wake in Flimby Club. All are welcome to join us and celebrate Oliver's short life.
“Please feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing.

Two men in their thirties were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and a number of other offences following the collision. Both have been bailed pending further enquiries.
Officers remain keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam or other video footage of the incident or circumstances leading up to it, including the Vauxhall Corsa car involved in the collision and the people in it.

Police can today name the victim of a fatal road traffic collision in Huddersfield as officers continue their appeal for witnesses to come forward.
Oliver Pryde, aged 18, died following a collision with a car on Penistone Road, Kirkburton, at 12:20am on Monday 12 July.
Oliver, who was studying in Huddersfield, was originally from Cumbria.
His family issued this tribute: “Oliver will be incredibly missed by family and friends and request privacy at this time.”
Police have renewed their appeal for information regarding the collision and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident or the circumstances leading up to it to come forward.
Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam or other video footage of the incident or circumstances leading up to it, including the Vauxhall Corsa car involved in the collision and the people in it.
