Joint Operation To Tackle Road Safety Within Calderdale Lower Valley

Monday 19 August, officers from Calderdale Lower Valley NPT team worked in partnership with the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) , Roads Policing Units,  Taxi Licensing from Calderdale Council and Calderdale Special Constables to address serious issues with motor vehicles using ours roads.  

During the operation , which was carried out on Bradford Road, Brighouse, 37 vehicles were stopped. 

2 drivers were issued with immediate prohibitions, 7 with 7 day prohibitions,  2 with 10 day prohibitions and 2  vehicle defect rectification schemes were issued. 

1 drive was issued a Traffic Offence Report for not wearing a seatbelt and 2 vehicles were seized as the drivers had no insurance. 1 driver was reported for summons for dangerous driving 

Numerous taxis stopped – 1 vehicle taken off the road by licensing due to serious vehicle fault and the driver is suspended until a compliance test is passed.
