Man Charged Over Leeds Student Stabbed In Street.

A man is due to appear in court today charged in connection with an incident in Leeds where a student was stabbed in the street.

Matthew Warburton, aged 33, of Chapel Lane, Headingley, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife in relation to the incident where a 19-year-old man was stabbed in the back in St Michael’s Lane, Headingley, on Tuesday night.

He is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court today where an application will be made to remand him in custody.

He has been released under investigation in relation to his arrest over an incident in Moor Road, Headingley, on March 9, where a 72-year-old man was stabbed.

Detectives have arrested a man over an incident in Leeds where a student was stabbed in the street.

The 33-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of this morning (21/5) on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to the incident where a 19-year-old man was stabbed in the back in St Michael’s Lane, Headingley, on Tuesday night.

He has also been arrested in connection with an incident in Moor Road, Headingley, on March 9, where a 72-year-old man was stabbed.

He remains in custody and enquiries are ongoing.

The arrest follows a public appeal for information yesterday.
