UPDATE: Appeal: Man Dies Following Serious Road Traffic Collision, Wakefield

Police have released the name of a man who died after his car collided with a bridge in Wakefield. 

Callum Gillies, who was 25 and from Ackworth, suffered serious injuries after his Citroen DS3 stuck the railway bridge in Ackworth, at about 9am on Sunday, 2 May.

He was taken to hospital, but sadly died from his injuries. 

Enquiries are continuing into the collision and anyone who witnessed it, or the movements of the vehicle prior to it, is asked to contact Wakefield District CID on 101, or via www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101livechat  quoting log reference 0398 of 2 May.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a car collided with a bridge in Wakefield. 

It happened in Ackworth at about 9am on Sunday, 2 May, when a Citroen DS3 travelling towards Badworth on the Doncaster Road, struck the railway bridge over the road. 

The occupant, a 25-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. 

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or the movements of the vehicle prior to it is asked to contact Roads Policing on 101 or via the West Yorkshire Police website, quoting log reference 0398 of 2 May.
