Update: Cyclist Fatality, Burnley Road, Todmorden

Following a serious collision on Burnley Road in Todmorden on Saturday 9th May, the cyclist has sadly died as a result of the injuries he sustained.

He has been named as 56 year old Stephen White from the Bolton area and his family have issued the following statement:-

“Stephen was a much loved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to so many and will be terribly missed by all that knew him.”

A 35 year old man from the Manchester area has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and being over the prescribed limit. He has been released under investigation.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision on Burnley Road in Todmorden.

Officers were called at 10.30 this morning (Saturday 9 May) to reports a van and cyclist had been in collision on Burnley Road at the junction with Church Road.

The cyclist, a 56-year-old Bolton man, was taken to hospital and is being treated for life threatening injuries.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dash cam footage of the collision itself.
