UPDATE Motorcyclist Named Following Fatal Collision, Cottingley Road, Allerton

A motorcyclist who died following a collision on Cottingley Road, Bradford, last week has been identified as 30-year-old John Naylor.

The collision occurred at around 7.45pm on Wednesday, 3 October, and involved a silver Ford Focus and a grey Yamaha motorcycle.

The Ford Focus was driving in the direction of Cottingley and turned right at the junction with Stone Street when it was in collision with the motorcycle, which had been travelling in the opposite direction.

The Ford then made off from the scene and was in a further collision with a red Volkswagen Polo. The Ford was later found abandoned on Meadow Court.            

Two men, both aged 24, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and released under investigation.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision or anyone who believes that they saw the Ford Focus prior to the collision.

Police have arrested a second man in connection with a fatal road traffic collision in Allerton on Wednesday.

The man, who is also 24 and from Bradford, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Both remain in custody and enquiries are continuing.

Police can confirm this evening that they have arrested a 24 year old man from the Bradford area on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He remains in police custody.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Allerton yesterday evening (03/10).

The collision happened at around 7.45pm on Cottingley Road and was involving a silver Ford Focus and a grey Yamaha motorcycle.

The Ford Focus was driving in the direction of Cottingley and turned right at the junction with Stone Street when it was in collision with the motorcycle, which had been travelling in the opposite direction.

The Ford then made off from the scene and was in a further collision with a red Volkswagen Polo. The Ford was later found abandoned on Meadow Court.            

The rider of the motorcycle, a 30-year-old man, sustained fatal injuries in the collision.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Swift, of the Major Enquiry Team, said: “I would urgently appeal for anyone who witnessed this collision or saw the driver of the Ford make off from the scene.

“I would appeal directly to the driver of the vehicle involved to contact officers. This was a tragic incident in which a man lost his life and we want to establish the full circumstances around the collision.

“Anyone who witnessed the silver Ford Focus driving in the area prior to the collision or anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the vehicles driving in the area should get in contact with officers.”
