Appeal After Passer-by Foils Street Robbery, Huddersfield.
Police in Huddersfield are appealing for information following an attempted robbery last night (12/2).
At about 7.15pm, a 23-year-old man was walking along Trinity Street when a man approached him from behind holding a knife.
A passer-by, a 46-year-old man, saw what was happening and intervened, causing the suspect to run off empty handed.
The suspect was described as Asian, about 5ft 10ins tall, aged in his early to mid twenties, slim to medium build. He was wearing dark clothing, trainers and a scarf.
Detective Inspector Mark Colman, of Kirklees District CID, said: "Clearly the actions of the witness have prevented a serious crime from being committed and while we would never encourage people to put themselves at risk, we have to recognise the courage and public-spiritedness he has shown.
"We are carrying out extensive enquiries to trace the suspect and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist the investigation."
