FOI - The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities, sets out exemptions from that right and places a number of obligations on public authorities.
As of 13th May 2014, the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014 made amendments to the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. The Act made two key amendments, firstly that the law is now extended to encompass dangerous dogs in private as well as public places; secondly that the law extends to provisions to cases where injury is caused to assistance dogs (whether or not any person is injured).
Police Response
When notified of an incident relating to an attack on an assistance dog, we will record the victim of the crime as ‘vulnerable’ in line with the National Victims Code of Practice.
